The Marion County Board of
Supervisors enacted Ordinance 2011-17 to establish and authorize the Marion
County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. The Commission's mandate is to locate,
rehabilitate, and maintain Pioneer Cemeteries located within Marion County. A
Pioneer Cemetery is one that is no longer considered Active, and in some cases
no longer has a controlling authority, or has not had the funds to maintain the
Cemetery. Listed below is a link to a compilation of the Year-To-Date meeting
minutes of the Commission.
The "Find A Grave" website has access to approximately 70 million grave records,
and growing. The site also has information to assist in locating cemeteries. The
website represents and is maintained by volunteers to assist in finding the
location of ancestors and other loved ones. Below is a "Find A Grave search
